A world class export facility at the Gordon’s NFA facility in Port Moresby will be completed in early 2010. This facility, which includes world-standard equipments such as a Protein Skimmers and UV light filtering systems, puts PNG on the same footing as other major industrial traders in the industry.  The facility staffs have received extensive training in holding and handling best practices from expert consultants in the field.  They are also trained in organism identification; organism screening/inspection and water quality management best practices which meet MAC, ISO and OATA standards.

With additional markets and freight options being explored at the moment, PNG looks to expand its market base to meet the increased demand for PNG marine aquarium organisms.

EcoEZ makes lasting impression on UNDP on International Volunteers Day 2009

December 17th, 2009 by media_relations

EcoEZ has pioneered the manner in which natural resources are sustainably managed around the world and continues to prove its commitment to local communities and the environment through many external activities. One of significant importance was the International Volunteers Day on December 5th, 2009. To mark the occasion, especially in light of the recent World Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen, EcoEZ’s SEASMART program, supported by the PNG National Fisheries Authority, joined UNDP and local community volunteers in a “Mangrove Planting and Conservation Event”.

As described by UN-REDD, intact mangrove systems are a key feature of PNG’s sustainable future and climate change adaptability. Mangrove systems along the warm temperate coastlines of the world are now recognized as key components for erosion and protect communities from the devastating impacts of tsunamis. Apart from being an opportunity for communities, protecting and restoring threatened mangrove systems have become a major need for climate change adaption.
